Seascapes Series of Limted Edition Prints Now Available
by
Mark Sunderland
on Thu 15 Nov 2007 18:00 GMT
The Seascapes series of limited edition prints by Mark Sunderland is now available at www.marksunderland.com
Mark explains this new set of images as follows:
"My inspiration for this series of images has been contemporary seascape painting rather than photography. I love the simplicity of images which are just made up of layers of blue - sea and sky punctuated by clouds and waves and the light interacting with these elements. Working digitally and experimenting with camera movement along with the movement of the waves I have tried to create similar images of the sea photographically. The camera settings became less important than usual in this process, with the speed and shape of the camera movement having more impact on the final image, like the brush strokes of the paintings that I admire."
A sample image Sea of Light II is shown below

June Image of the Month: Upper Nidderdale, Summer
by
Mark Sunderland
on Fri 01 Jun 2007 14:25 BST
This month's image was taken late last summer way up at the top of Nidderdale...

Nidderdale may not be as famous as the dales within the Yorkshire Dales national park, but it's still worthy of a visit to see typical dales barns and dry stone walls - and it tends to be a lot quieter!

by
Mark Sunderland
on Tue 03 Apr 2007 15:33 BST
I was walking along the Nidd Gorge this weekend and, although the flowers are not out yet, the distinctive aroma of the wild garlic was defintely in the air, reminding me of this spring image taken in Strid Wood last year...

February Image of The Month: Farndale in Winter
by
Mark Sunderland
on Thu 01 Feb 2007 12:16 GMT
This month's image shows a light dusting of snow over the patchwork fields in Farndale on a winter day:

After taking this image, as I was putting the camera gear away, some of the sheep came over to the nearby gate - clearly hoping I was about to produce a fresh bale of hay from the back of the car, but sadly I had nothing to give them!

January's Image and Other Things
by
Mark Sunderland
on Tue 16 Jan 2007 15:53 GMT
This month's image is the rather alarming Storm Over Littondale:

This image was captured way up Littondale late on a winter afternoon, with clouds rushing by and casting ever-changing shadows on the daleside.
This was one of the images in my Yorkshire Through The Seasons exhibition at Harrogate Library last month. Thanks to everyone that visited, and for the nice comments in the visitors book, some of which are now available to view on the website at:
www.marksunderland.com/Exhibitions/YorkshireThroughTheSeasons.html
My apologies if you were hoping to read a message announcing a January Sale!
Unfortunately last year's alignment of prices between web and art show sales, with the introduction of separate delivery charges, was the last reduction in prices that I am able to offer (ever). This is, of course, great news if you bought a print in 2006, as prices are only going upwards from now on! However, my fine art print prices will remain at the current levels for the time being - but I am expecting them to rise later in 2007.
Due to production costs, my A5 greetings card price will rise to £2.80 this month.

Yorkshire Through The Seasons Exhibition Now Showing!
by
Mark Sunderland
on Mon 11 Dec 2006 15:34 GMT
Mark Sunderland's Yorkshire Through The Seasons exhibition is now showing at The Stairwell Gallery, Harrogate Library!

Yorkshire Through The Seasons comprises a selection of new images of the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and Coast taken by Mark Sunderland over the past year. Mark, originally from Tadcaster, left Yorkshire to go to university but moved back in 2005, after an absence of 24 years, settling in Knaresborough. He then set about photographing the landscape of his native county with fresh eyes, using the techniques acquired and a style developed over the last decade on journeys to more distant landscapes in the western USA, Patagonia and Iceland. This exhibition is the result of the first year of this project.
The exhibition comprises 35 framed 50x40cm prints produced personally by Mark using the latest ultrachrome K3 pigment inks for archival permanence on a beautiful fine art 100% cotton paper from the James Cropper paper mill in Cumbria.
The Stairwell Gallery, Harrogate Library Victoria Avenue Harrogate HG1 1EG
The exhibition continues until 23rd December 2006.
