I have just discovered that my fine art print order buttons on the website aren’t working with PayPal at the moment.  Apologies if this has caused you a problem.  To get round the problem I’m upgrading to custom PayPal buttons, as shown here for Swirling Leaves.  Unfortunately I’ll need to update each one individually which may take a few days, so in the meantime if the page you want hasn’t got a PayPal style button please let me know!

Announcing the great value Yorkshire Through The Seasons 2010 Calendar and lower online book prices for Christmas!

OK, I know it might be a little early to be thinking about your Christmas shopping but with the delivery lead times on my print on demand products and possible delays in the run up to the festive season now is the time to start thinking about online orders.

My new Yorkshire Through The Seasons 2010 Calendar is now available from MagCloud, featuring twelve beautiful Yorkshire landscapes. Priced at just US$12.80 (that’s about £8) plus delivery (just US$1.69 on a single copy).  MagCloud currently ship to the UK, USA and Canada only and you should allow around two weeks for delivery.

Visit www.marksunderland.com/calendars

My Yorkshire Through The Seasons coffee table book from Blurb continues to impress and I now have a special online-only price of £28.95 for the hardback version.  Yorkshire Through The Seasons is now also available in softback with the great value online-only price of £21.95!

My artist’s Catalogue is also available as a Blurb book and is just £9.95 in softback when ordered online.  It features 150 images from my current fine art print range.  I have also just added a special gift edition of the Catalogue in hardback which is now available at £16.95.

Visit www.marksunderland.com/books

Finally, Blurb have recently introduced a new flat rate delivery charge of £3.99 (UK) for 1-5 books, so why not order Yorkshire Through The Seasons and Catalogue together for best value! Blurb books are available in the UK, USA and many other countries – see the Blurb website for details and shipping information.

I have supplied some images for use on the Yorkshire Foodie blog written by Ian Taylor from the Yorkshire Deli in Ilkley (where it just happens some of my prints are on display).

There are lots of local (well, if you’re in Yorkshire) food related articles along with the odd mouth-watering recipe.

Thanks to Ian for the complimentary write up on my work!

I’ve added a showcase of my latest stock imagery to my photostream over on flickr

This has two main advantages over the stock section on my website.  Firstly, it’s a lot quicker to maintain, so I can get a selection of new work up there just as soon as I’ve processed it and, more importantly, it’s fully searchable, unlike the location based index on my site.

There are just a couple of hundred images on there at the moment, a tight selection from the stock shoots I’ve completed since the last stock update to www.marksunderland.com but I’ll add a few samples from my archive from time to time as well as publishing new work, so feel free to browse!

View Article  MagCloud 2010 Calendar

I’ve been investigating MagCloud – the website for producing print-on-demand magazines.  It’s a project started by HP Labs and is currently still in beta, but looks quite interesting as the magazine production uses the HP Indigo printer, the same kit used to produce my Blurb books which I’m very pleased with in terms of print quality.

I’m not thinking of going into magazine production, but I think there could be a few things I could do with the format.  It may provide a more cost-effective way of producing my Artist’s Catalogue perhaps.  In particular, I noticed that a few people have been using the format to produce calendars, so I thought I’d give it a try, and I’ve put together a Yorkshire Through The Seasons 2010 Calendar as a start.  From what I’ve read so far the print quality is good, but I’m waiting for the proof to arrive to see just how good it is before making the calendar available.  I’ll write another post when it arrives!

Roseberry Topping, North York Moors, Yorkshire

I had a drive up to Roseberry Topping after a visit to Mount Grace Priory on Monday this week, as the evening light was so beautiful.  The sun was still relatively high when I shot this at around 8pm, but the crop in the foreground (is that wheat?) just looked lovely.

I'll get this on the website in due course - but I have a couple in the frameable card format ready for the show at Guisborough this weekend!

A new Mark Sunderland book entitled Yorkshire Through The Seasons is now available from blurb.com!

Yorkshire Through The Seasons comprises a selection of landscape images of the Yorkshire Dales, Moors and Coast taken by Mark Sunderland over a four year period.

Mark grew up in Yorkshire but left to go to university. He moved back in 2005, after an absence of 24 years and set about photographing the landscape of his native county with fresh eyes, using the techniques acquired and a style developed over the previous decade on journeys to more distant landscapes in the western USA, Patagonia and Iceland.

Leura Colours I

"My Moving Water images combine the natural blurring of waterfall subjects with my own camera movements.  My first series of Moving Water images concentrated on deep earthy colours, so I was keen to find a waterfall subject with different coloured rocks behind the water.  On a trip to the Blue Mountains, I found a little waterfall at Leura Falls consisting of a series of small cascades over orange rocks covered in moss, and knew immediately that this was the subject I was looking for."
